On Thursday, Dec. 7, Charles Lloyd Knight Sr. answered the call of Almighty God and entered the land of Eternal Joy.

Life began for him on July 20, 1914 in Nansemond County.

He was the son of the late Walter and Mariah Scott Knight.

He was educated in the Nansemond County Public School system.

Charles was a retired Exterminator of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

He was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church and served there as a member of the Men’s Fellowship and Missionary.

Charles was predeceased by his wife Thelma Knight.

He leaves to cherish lasting memories: five daughters, Neil Knight of Suffolk, Carrie Knight Brown and Mary Williams of Franklin, Thelma Clark of Newport News, Bernice Knight-Stevenson (Michael) of Greenville; six sons, Charlie Jr. (Hattie), Walter (Mary) Knight of Suffolk, John Henry (Shirley) of New York, Samuel (Allene), Thomas Sr. (Sandra) and Edward Knight Sr. of Suffolk; 21 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Viewing on Tuesday, Dec. 12 from 12-6 p.m. and wake service from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Service will be on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Union Baptist Church – 215 Webb St., Suffolk.

Interment will be at Carver Memorial Cemetery.

Repast immediately following interment at the funeral home fellowship hall.
