Suffolk Police are asking for the public’s assistance to solve a homicide that occurred earlier this month.

On Dec. 4, emergency personnel were dispatched to an injured person in the 900 block of Truman Road. Upon arrival, they found Patrick Nathaniel Johnson dead in his residence. An autopsy later determined that Johnson died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Now, two weeks later, police have no suspects or motive for the crime, said Detective John McCarley, one of the lead investigators on the case.

“It just appears a senseless death,” he said. “Nothing about it makes sense. His background, the people he knows, everything speaks very highly of him.”

McCarley said that Johnson “didn’t have any apparent discord with anybody that we could find.

“It doesn’t seem that the motive is robbery, or burglary, so that would make it personal.”

The detectives are asking that the public give them any information they have, he said.

“Anybody that was around that knows anything about Mr. Johnson, or his habits, people he knows, any unusual foot traffic or unusual cars in the neighborhood, any piece of information they can give us,” will be useful, he said.
