Lucile Luter Byrd, 85, formerly of Suffolk, passed away Dec. 28.

She was born in Nansemond County, the daughter of the late Minnie Scott Luter and George Harvey Luter. Lucile was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Spring Christian Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, James Rufus Byrd; sisters, Catherine Pierce, Sadie Jones, Edna Turner, Helen Luter; and brothers, Harvey Luter Jr., and Urquart Luter.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Carolyn Byrd Moore and husband Bradley, and Penny Byrd Foxworth, all of Gloucester; grandchildren, Jay Cline and wife Donna, of Gates, N.C., Mykea F. Atkinson and husband Heath, of Florence, S.C., and Michael Foxworth and wife Jennifer, of Richmond; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Parker, and Bryce Cline, of Gates, N.C., Reagan Atkinson, of Florence, S.C.; brother, Edward Luter and wife Betty, of Sunbury, N.C.; brother-in-law, Reuben Byrd and wife Doris, of Suffolk; and many beloved nieces and nephews and other family members.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, Dec. 31, at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home with the Rev. Dolan Talbert officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Spring Christian Church Cemetery.
