I went to the dentist Wednesday. It had been some time since I had visited one and I have a couple of things going on that I know have to be fixed.

That visit reminded me of living in Florida, prior to coming to Suffolk, and our dentist there n or more specifically, his name n Dr. Payne.

We also had a podiatrist (foot doctor) there named Fietz.

With that in mind, I wondered how many other doctors out there had names that described their profession.

So, as I always do when I have one of these kinds of questions, I turned to the Internet.

On http://www.dementia.org/~alycia/drnames.html, I found these:

John Looney (psychiatrist)

James D. Cure

Gary Ricketts

John Spine

Cynthia Rasch

Lana Cain

Edmond Lipp

Phillip Hipps

Evan Lipkiss

Michael Achey

Dan Medic

Just a few more from http://www.u.arizona.edu/~stoddard/doctor.htm

These are all dentists – Pullen, Fillmore, Hurt, Mantooth, Crownover, Swallow and Fang.

How about a few of dermatologists: Frye, Tanner and Skinner.

Ear, nose and throat: Klotz and Wax.

Family practice: Blood, Coffin, Patient, Superdock, Stasick, Kilgore.

Hand surgeons: Palmer and Nalebuff.

Optometrists: C. Moore, Peek, Glass and See.

I am sure this kind of thing goes on in just about any career field. Do you have any others?

The ‘Big 6’

Tomorrow is my wedding anniversary. We’re celebrating the big six.

I know it’s not a lot to some of you, those married in the double digits, and some beyond a half century, but for me, married twice before, neither one lasting more than 24 months, it’s a big deal.

We don’t have much of anything planned n just dinner out somewhere. Can’t go anywhere because both of us are working.

They say that some people are truly soul mates. I believe Martha and I are included in that group.

We’re to the point in our marriage where we often times are thinking the same thing simultaneously.

We don’t share all the same interests, but there are some things we both agree on and do because we both enjoy them.

While we are a team, we are also very independent people.

We share the housework, taking care of the animals, the grocery shopping and the cooking. And, I also do laundry. But my idea of washing clothes is everything together in cold water. I usually only do my own things and stay away from Martha’s.

Ours is a good marriage. Notice I didn’t say perfect. I don’t know that there is such a thing.

In all the years we have been together we have never really had a fight. Oh, we’ve had our moments, but nothing has ever gotten heated. We’re good together. If we were in kindergarten, we’d get an ‘A’ for ‘plays well with others.’

We don’t have a favorite song, or anything like that; but we have a significant number n 9.

We met in 1989 at a wedding. I was the best man and she was the maid of honor.

After that, we went our separate ways n for nine years.

The difference in our ages is nine years. And Martha’s birthday is Sept. 9, or ninth month, ninth day.

Happy anniversary sweetheart. Here’s to number seven.
