Fall in love with Virginia again

It’s time to fall in love with Virginia all over again.
Ruth DiGeorge, owner of A Tisket, A Tasket in the Shoppes on the Village Green in Governor’s Pointe, is bringing back the store’s popular “Fall in love with Virginia” market on Saturday, Oct. 4.
Last year’s event was a huge success, bringing in more than 1,000 visitors to the North Suffolk cul-de-sac.
“It was just the right amount of people, it was crowded but in a good way,” DiGeorge said of last year’s event.
Attendees saw the more than 20 vendors, each of whom have Virginia based products, including gourmet food exhibits, Virginia artists and several additional miscellaneous exhibits that include candles and clothing.
DiGeorge had the idea to feature all Virginia-based companies after thinking about her inventory one day. She noted how many Virginia made products she carried in her gift store, and how that diverse stock could create a great show.
DiGeorge began contacting her inventory providers to see if they would like to set up and exhibit at the market. Then, she solicited the help of the other Shoppes on the Village Green shop owners to get more Virginia-based inventory providers.
This year DiGeorge said she has even more exhibits for the market, thanks in part because local businesses actually contacted her to participate this year.
Keeping the same format as last year, visitors to the market will tour, see and shop amongst some of the biggest and most unique names in Virginia business.
“I’ve gotten a great response, and I’m hoping it’s going to be another good year,” DiGeorge said.
The event is free and open to the public.
The first 200 attendees will receive a goodie bag that is filled with donations from the vendors displaying exhibits at the market.
Also, everyone who comes to the event will be given a passport. When they visit each of the shoppes, they receive a stamp. People can turn in their filled passport and be entered into a drawing for one of the eight door prizes.
Also at the market, the band Ancient Men will be playing. DiGeorge describes the band having a “James Taylor/Beach Boys” kind of sound. Paradocks East Coast Grill will have food and drinks available for purchase as well.
