A man who died after being struck by a train Saturday night has been identified.

Police say Christopher D. Grant, 53, of the 1300 block of East Washington St., was walking on the tracks in the 200 block of East Washington Street when a Norfolk Southern train approached. According to police investigators, Grant was walking with his back to the approaching train. The train operators saw the man just before the accident and sounded horns and whistles as they attempted to brake. The man died on impact.
