How to start your day right

My patients ask me what is the best thing they can do to start off the day right. It might surprise you to find it has nothing to do with diet or some form of exercise. The best thing to do when we first wake up is to pick an idea that we’ll focus on for the rest of the day.

When we wake up we have an amazing opportunity. At that point we can decide right then how the rest of our day is going to go. The first thing we can do is decide how we are going to feel. We can fall out of bed and stager to the sink thinking “Wow, I’m sooooo tired,” then our subconscious mind will take that order and serve up a big plate of TIRED. If we instead take control of our mind and give it the order “I feel good, I feel fine, I feel this way all the time” we have the potential to guide our thoughts. A very important part of this is to act as if whatever we want is happening. Make it a game at first and eventually we begin to gain more and more control over where our thoughts are going. Dr. Albert Schweitzer throughout the day used the idea “Every day in every way I’m getting better and better.”

We know emotions and our emotional state affects our health. When we are ANGRY, we feel the rush of blood, our skin gets hot, we feel all twisted up in knots. So the emotional response traveled through the nervous system into the cells and changes our health. When we think a HAPPY thought, how does that make us feel? Happy positive thoughts have a harmonizing effect on the whole form and ultimately our health. If our thoughts can drive our emotions and we can change them, then we can change our emotions as well.

Chiropractic zone healing can help you think positive thoughts by helping your body deal with stress more effectively. Stress puts pressure on the nervous system and negatively affects the signals traveling along the nerves. Zone treatments release stress in the system and act as a “reboot” for the whole nervous system. As the body handles stress more effectively, then the person is free to think positive thoughts and heal.
