The King’s Fork Lady Bulldogs field hockey team got their second win of the season over Southampton High School in spectacular fashion with a goal late in the second overtime for a 1-0 win on Friday at King’s Fork.

After tentative play in regulation, the Lady Bulldogs picked up the pace in both overtimes. Ashley Carter scored the go-ahead goal for the Bulldogs.

“I thought it was amazing!” Carter said of the goal after the game.

The Bulldogs dominated possession most of the game, but potent keeper play and defense from the Indians, along with missed opportunities made it a scoreless tie heading into the second overtime.

“We kept our head in the game, in a goal-scoring mentality,” said Shaunda Lee who assisted Carter on the game-winning goal.

King’s Fork deeper Kristen Moore had a huge save in the first overtime, keeping it scoreless and allowing Carter to win it for the Bulldogs.

“They did very well, we had possession most of the game, we just have to work on goal percentage,” King Fork coach Jessica Neblett said afterwards.

The Lady Bulldogs (2-5, 0-4) play again next Wednesday at home against Great Bridge at 5 p.m.
