Police are searching for the gunman who shot a 16-year-old boy several times at a party over the weekend.
Police found the boy lying in the parking lot of Cogic Square Apartments, on Stacy Drive, around 2 a.m. Sunday, said city spokeswoman Debbie George.
The teen was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he underwent surgery. Neither his name nor condition was available on Monday.
Police believe the shooting happened after a fight broke out at a party inside the apartment, and then moved out into the parking lot. Several shots were fired, possibly from more than one source, George said.
Four vehicles were hit by bullets, she said.
Authorities are trying to locate a gold- or cream-colored Acura Legend, with a broken window, that was seen leaving the area immediately after the shooting, George said.
Anyone with information on the car or who witnessed the incident is asked to call the Suffolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or Detective Q. Beers at 514-7944.
