William Reid

William “Bill” Leslie Reid departed this life on Nov. 14, 2008. Bill was born June 21, 1917 in Carrollton, Va. He was owner and operator of an auto repair business. Bill will be remembered as a gentle man and “one who was always giving back.” He was a founder and lifetime member of the Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department. Bill was a 50-year member of the Carrollton Ruritans and a member of Benns United Methodist Church in Smithfield.
Proceeded in death by wives Carolyn Weaver Reid and Peggy Matthews Post Reid, he is survived by daughters, Patricia Ann Reid Tallman and Carol Lynn Reid Frisk; two stepdaughters, Nona Louise Post and Anne Lynn Post Cloe; nine grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17 in Colonial Funeral Home. A Life Celebration Service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov.18 in Benn’s United Methodist Church with Rev. O.H. Burton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Historic St. Luke’s Cemetery, with fireman honors
