Add Cheer Fund to your Christmas list

When making out your Christmas list this year, make sure to add the Suffolk News-Herald’s Cheer Fund. The fund is officially off the ground and running. And while the economic times are in a dire state, there remain cheerful and giving hearts in the Suffolk community.
And although there is a substantial amount needed to reach the goal of $45,000, this first string of gifts reminds us that people are still willing to give to those less fortunate.
The Cheer Fund, which has been providing toys for underprivileged children for years, embodies the Christmas spirit. The fund reminds us that through the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, there remain many families who are struggling. One family might have concerns about getting everything on their shopping list, while another worries about where the next meal might come from.
It’s easy to forget about the family who must choose between food and gifts for their children this holiday season. The Cheer Fund, though, provides a small solution for that family by providing the toys and gifts so the family doesn’t have to choose.
Thousands of children have depended on Cheer Fund contributions in recent years. Let’s not let them down. Consider what you or your business can give. It could be the best gift you’ll give this year.
