Sandra Jean Holland Jones, 62, passed away Nov. 28, 2008. She was born in Suffolk, Va., in May of 1946 and was the daughter of the late Lyman R. Holland and Nan Elizabeth Liles Holland. She was a 1964 graduate of Holland High School and attended Louise Obici School of Professional Nursing. She was employed on a part-time as well as a full time basis with the Circuit Court of the City of Suffolk for approximately 33 years, until her retirement Feb. 1, 2008.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years Earl T. Jones, Jr., two sons, Earl T. Jones, III and wife Karen of Suffolk, Michael H. Jones and wife Anna of Midlothian, Va.; daughter Nancy J. Negri and husband Dan of Wilmington, N.C.; three grandchildren, Brennan Tyler Jones, Hayden Christopher Jones and Mya Elizabeth Negri. She is also survived by her brother Dr. L. L. Holland and wife Brenda of Kinston, N.C.; nephew Jeffrey L. Holland and wife Beth of Morganton, N.C.; niece Stephanie H. Stallings and husband Gus of Charlotte, N.C.; and great nephews Clifton Lyle Holland, Holland Augustus Stallings and Kenneth Hayden Stallings.
A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008 at 1 p.m. in the R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, 509 W. Washington St. Suffolk, by the Rev Michael D. Halley. Family will receive friends in the funeral home on Monday from 7 to 8:30 PM.
