Suffolk – Ray C. Scott Sr. of 300 Cedar St., Suffolk, Va., died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 in Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Southampton County, Va., and son of late Charlie Scott Sr. and Gladys Foster Scott.
Mr. Scott retired after 40 years at Tidewater Construction Company.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Gloria M. Scott; four daughters, Debra Scott, Armenta Scott and Wanda Scott, all of Waterbury, Conn., and Tamekia Scott, of Suffolk; three sons, Ray C. Scott Jr. and Shawn Scott, of Waterbury, Conn., and Timothy L. Scott, of Suffolk; five sisters, Mary Hall, of Roosevelt, N.Y., Barbara Scott, Armenta Cross, Diane Scott, Maurice Scott, all of Suffolk; his mother-in-law, Marion Barnes; 15 grandchildren; one goddaughter, Delisa Sharpen; one godson, Raqan Knight; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 at Crocker Funeral Home Inc. officiated by Evangelist Cynthia Green. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.
