Artist Sandy Lupton will present a workshop entitled “Collage Magic” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Suffolk Museum.
Lupton will lead those who want to play with collage but don’t know where to begin. Participants will make a deck of Magic Collage Cards and learn a whole new liberating way to make mixed-media art.
Students should bring photocopies of meaningful photographs and any other 2D elements to incorporate. All other supplies are provided.
Lupton, a graphic designer, mixed-media and jewelry artist, has exhibited in numerous shows throughout Virginia, including the Peninsula Fine Arts Center, Shooting Star Gallery, The Suffolk Museum, Red Thread Studio and the Rawls Museum Arts.
Her work has been featured in numerous magazines, including Somerset Studio, Rubber Stamper, Cloth/Paper/Scissors, Creating Keepsakes, and in the books “Modern Exploration of the Human Form,” “Material Visions: a Gallery of Miniature Art Quilts,” and “Exhibition 36: Mixed Media Demonstration and Explorations.”
The fee for the workshop is $35. Make checks payable to the City of Suffolk. The deadline for signup is Jan. 17. For more information, call the Suffolk Museum at 514-7284.
