Antoinette “Toni” Hobbs James, 90, died Jan. 9, 2009, in Richmond, Va.
A native of Suffolk, Ms. James was the daughter of the late G.S. Hobbs Sr., and Anna Cope Hobbs and widow of William H. James. She was preceded in death by her son, Hugh James and brother, William Hobbs. She is survived by her son, William James Jr.; brothers, G S. Hobbs Jr. of Suffolk, and James Hobbs, of Richmond; sister, Mary Hobbs Draper, of Florida; and several nieces and nephew.
A long time resident of Richmond, Ms. James retired from a career with the U.S. government. Her life was influenced by an appreciation of and participation in the arts.
