Deloris Ann Benton, of 114 Nancy Drive, Suffolk, Va., died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Nansemond County and was the daughter of George L. Benton of Carrsville, Va., and Vergie Rodgers Benton, of Suffolk. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Benton, and an uncle, Hughe Benton.
She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, Buckhorn.
She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters, Malinda Myrick (Keith), of Franklin, Va., Alvonya Benton, of Carrsville, Va., Keisha Sharpe (Joseph), Tiera Benton, both of Suffolk; one son, Calvin Benton (Kim), of Windsor, Va., seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cynthia Osborne, of Suffolk, and Betty Daughtrey (Karl), of Hampton, Va.; one stepbrother, Earnest Tyler (Sharon), of Suffolk; two aunts, Shirley Joyner and Emma Benton; two uncles, William Sledge (Queen), of Washington, D.C., and Ranson Shearin; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009 at Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Parker officiating. Interment will be in Picott Family Cmeetery, Carrsville.
