Lottie “Jumpy” Florine Bazemore, of 39 Stacey Drive, Suffolk, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009 in Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of the late Charlie and Christine Rick Darden. She was also predeceased by her husband, Rudolph Julius Ray Bazemore Sr., and her sister, Barbara Darden Hampton.
She attended Booker T. Washington High School. She was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church, where she was on the usher board.
Left to cherish her memories are three daughters, Sharon Denise Bazemore, of Troy, Va.; Vivian Marie Bazemore, of Roanoke, Va., and Fay Michell Bazemore, Suffolk; four sons, Rudolph Julius Ray Bazemore Jr., of Laurel, Md.; Daron Ray Bazemore (Docelsey), of Chesapeake, Va.; Michael LeRoy Bazemore (Danetra) and Tremaine Ahmad Bazemore, both of Suffolk; two sisters, Alice Darden Lundia, of Suffolk, Virginia Darden Richardson, of Los Angeles, Calif.; 24 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; devoted grandchildren, Ms. Niketa T. Bazemore, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Bazemore and Mrs. Chineta Cross; devoted niece, Mrs. Mary D. Rodgers; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009 at Metropolitan Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Hobbs officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will assemble at noon at 923 Truman Road for the procession to the church.
