Raising awareness of heart disease

The Suffolk Family YMCA invites you to wear red on Friday for National Wear Red Day to raise awareness of heart disease. We also invite all Suffolk Family YMCA members to wear red to any group exercise class – land or water.

By wearing red to a class on Feb. 6, you will be entered into a raffle to win a $25 gift certificate to Plaza Azteca Mexican Restaurant. All participants who wear red to a group exercise class also will receive a one-day guest pass to share with a friend.

The Suffolk Family YMCA encourages you to get out and try a new group exercise class. There are many benefits to working out in a group exercise class. Members who attend group exercise classes attest to better results stemming from the camaraderie, accountability, structure and support the classes provide them.

When attending a group exercise class, you are more likely to complete a well-rounded exercise routine and get a potentially tougher workout. In a class, the instructor is there to guide you and to help you pick up the pace. A class can help you move past a plateau, if your goal is to push yourself a little bit and improve.

Group exercise classes can help you stay on track and committed to your personal fitness goals. For a complete list of group exercise classes offered at the Suffolk Family YMCA, stop by and pick up a schedule or visit www.ymcashr.org/locations/suffolk.
