Logan Eugene Staton, 83, died Feb. 11, 2009, in Lake Taylor Hospital.
Born in Palmyra, N.C., he was the son of the late Logan Jasper and Mary Ida Staton and widower of Hazel Lassiter Staton. Mr. Staton was retired from the Suffolk City School system, having taught in North Carolina and the community college systems. He was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Hazel Elizabeth Staton, of Portsmouth; sisters-in-law, Leona Staton, of Scotland Neck, N.C., Essie Woods, of Conway, N.C.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the graveside in Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery by the Rev. Edward C. Johnson.
