Sarah Sawyer Gay, 92, of the 700 block of Oxford St., died Feb. 19, 2009.
Mrs. Gay was born March 5, 1916, in Gates, N.C., to John Jack Sawyer and Ida Menter Sawyer.
She leaves to cherish her memories a son, Jame Wevery Gay, and two sisters, Mrs. Arlean Harrell and Geralldine Roberson.
The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the New First Baptist Church Hosier Road, officiated by the Rev. Lemuel Green. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is in charge.
