Mary Thelma Mays, 88, died March 1, 2009, at Sentara Obici Hospital.
Born in Suffolk, Va., she was the daughter of the late Ladonia Lassiter and Ernest Homer Lassiter, and was predeceased by her husband, Raby R. Mays.
She is survived by a daughter, Lori Burfield and husband, Allan, of Hampstead, N.C.; sons, Ray Mays and wife, Pat, of Smithfield, Va., David Mays and wife, Sue, of Richmond, Va., Clarence Mays and wife, Phyllis, of Moyock, N.C. and Robert Mays and wife, Diane, of Valdese, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and by her brothers and sister.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., March 4, 2009 in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Charles W. Thompson.
