Lakeland retired the No. 32 jersey of Terika Lunsford on Thursday night as the culmination of its winter sports awards ceremony. Lunsford is the first Lakeland girls basketball player to earn a scholarship to a Division I school, as she will attend the University of Albany next year, and she’s the first Lady Cavalier to surpass 1,000 career points.

Standing from left, varsity head coach Alan Jones, JV head coach Violene Sharpe and athletic director Teri Tucker presented the jersey to Lunsford. Earlier during the evening, when speaking about Lunsford and fellow senior Kaylyn Chatman, Jones choked up with emotion during his comments.
