Hubert T. Byrum Sr., born Nov. 9, 1927 in North Carolina went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2009. The widower of Nellie S. Byrum, who passed away Oct. 22,2008 and the son of the late William Jesse and Nellie Chappell Boyce Byrum, he was predeceased by Mavin Jones, Minnie, Anna, John and William Byrum. Hubert was a member of Maranatha Church. He was retired from Farming and Southern States Cooperation in Windsor, Va. He was in the Virginia National Guard.
He loved his church family, neighbors, and working in his garden and yard.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Hubert T. Byrum Jr. (Buck) and Patricia N. Byrum, Michael L. Byrum, all of Windsor; grandchildren, Dawn, H.T. III (Buck) and Patricia Byrum; sisters, Annie Bilby of Suffolk and Marie Matthews of North Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of Sentara Obici Hospital and Tandem Nursing Home and Hospice for all the care they gave to Hubert Byrum Sr.
A funeral service will be held Monday April 6, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at the Parr Funeral Home, by Dr. Clyde Alderman, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family Sunday evening from 5 to 6 p.m. for visitation at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk and other times at the home of Buck and Patricia Byrum.
