George Hodges

Mr. George T. Hodges, of 2626 Riddick Drive, Suffolk, went into eternal rest on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a deacon of First Baptist Church Mahan Street, and he served throughout the city as a volunteer with the senior citizens and many other charitable organizations.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Hodges; two daughter, Joanne Parker (Ray), of Suffolk, and Lena Mae Jackson, of New York; as well as his seven stepchildren, two sisters and three brothers.
A home going service will be held on April 21 at noon at First Baptist Church Mahan Street with the Rev. Steven Blunt officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. Visitation will begin on Monday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home, Inc., 685 Carolina Road, Suffolk. The body will be placed in the church on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Harris Funeral Home has been entrusted with the home going service.
