The Hall Place 100th birthday celebration was a fabulous success!

I want to extend a huge thank you to Melanie and Lori at Parks and Recreation, along with the many other city personnel, for spending so many hours with us to help make this such a successful event.

Another big thank you goes out to Vice- Mayor Curtis Milteer and City Manager Selena Cuffee-Glenn for helping to get the ball rolling. All of you will be happy to know that everyone who attended had a wonderful time visiting and reminiscing.

As I reflect back, I have found myself thinking about the monumental task our committee completed. I also begin to realize that the real success went beyond the recognition of our 100-year-old neighborhood. The biggest success was everyone coming together to work toward a goal accomplishing it.

I think back on everyone laughing, joking, and having a great time. Regardless of what has happened, we were able to leave the past behind in one sense, but at the same time also celebrate it. To me that was the real celebration.

My greatest hope is that this was a step — a step in the direction of making our neighborhood whole again.

As I look back at what we accomplished, it inspires me to work harder for more of these “celebrations” in the future — the celebration of friends, neighbors, and a great neighborhood.

I am so proud to have been a part of this one, and I will treasure all of the lessons I learned.
