Spring semester winding down
Published 10:21 pm Thursday, May 7, 2009
Spring semester is winding down, with the last day of classes this past Monday and final exams extending through May 11. Graduation is scheduled for May 15 at the College’s Regional Workforce Development Center, and registration continues for summer semester, which begins May 18. As noted in last week’s column, our popular Kids College will be featured during summer semester.
Kids College
Hosted at Paul D. Camp’s Regional Workforce Development Center in Franklin, Kids College is a summer enrichment series, which offers unique workshops (for rising second- through 12th-graders) that are designed to teach new skills, develop new interests and hobbies and explore future career opportunities.
Kids College offerings include a broad array of activities during June, July and August in the following categories: career exploration; fine arts; food and nutrition; hobbies and interests; and science, technologies, engineering and math.
For program descriptions with dates and times, see the 2009 Kids College Brochure online at http://www.pdc.edu/workforce-development/kids-college.php, which includes registration details, as well.
According to Teri Zurfluh, Education Program Coordinator for Workforce Development, you will notice that many of the offerings have limited enrollment, and applications are processed according to the date they are received. A confirmation of your registration will be mailed to you as soon as your application has been fully processed. (Confirmation of enrollment is contingent upon receipt of the completed application and course fees). If you need additional information or have any questions, call 569-6050 for assistance.
Date Correction
Hosted by the PDCCC Foundation, the College’s 6th annual Golf Tournament will be held Aug. 14 at Sleepy Hole Golf Course in Suffolk. The rain date is Aug. 21.
Sponsored by the PDCCC Foundation to raise money for student scholarships and staff and faculty needs, the tournament begins registration and lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a shotgun start at 1 p.m., with a four-person Captain’s Choice format.
The cost for individual players is $75 and includes 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch and refreshments. The deadline for registration is July 24, but since the field is limited to the first 144 paid players, early registration is highly recommended to secure a place.
For more details or to request a tournament registration form, call 569-6791.
