HAMPTON – Claudette Bailey Ross, 73, passed away Monday, May 4, 2009. Born in Suffolk, she has been a lifelong resident of the Tidewater area, living the last 27 years in Hampton. She was a material handler for the Naval Supply Center, retiring in 1997. She was also a member of Miracle Temple.
Preceded in death by her husband, George E. Ross, she is survived by her daughters, Janice Didley, of Newport News; Patricia Crandell and her husband, Willie, of Hampton; sons, Anthony Wheeler, of Los Angeles, Calif., Wilbert J. Wheeler, of Suffolk, and Tyrone S. Wheeler, of New York, N.Y.; sisters, Carol Dixo,n of Pensacola, Fla., and Angelina Cunningham, of South Carolina; brothers, Alexander Bailey, of Suffolk, and Willard Bailey, of Richmond; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Mrs. Ross’s life will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday at Miracle Temple in Newport News. Interment will be next to her husband in Quantico National Cemetery, 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009.
