For three years, the Obici Health Care Foundation has helped Suffolk organizations accomplish their goals of providing health care for everyone who needs it.

The group partners with organizations, using funds from the estate of Amedeo and Louise Obici, to support health care-related goals in the city. One of the fruits of the foundation’s efforts was showcased just yesterday, as city officials cut the ribbon on the new Health and Human Services building. The foundation contributed half a million dollars toward the project.

Now, the foundation is building itself some new office space on Main Street, near the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts. The building will be a good investment in the foundation’s mission, as it allows them plenty of meeting space, the benefit of owning property and the ability to help other nonprofit organizations with meeting space, as well.

True to its mission, the foundation is considering the community’s needs even as it constructs a new building. The board has had the forethought to design the building to fit in with the historical character of the area, allow a view of the SCCA and incorporate environmentally friendly features.

We encourage the foundation to continue its mission for years to come, and we hope having its own space contributes significantly to its goal of promoting health in Suffolk.
