Police seeking shutterbug burglar

Suffolk Police are looking for a burglar who’s doubling as an amateur photographer in his spare time.

During the first week of June, investigators were called to the scene of a residential burglary in the 200 block of Holbrook Arch. Detectives learned that during the burglary, the suspect attempted to use the homeowner’s cell phone to place a call, but was unsuccessful. He did, however, manage to take a photograph of himself with the phone’s camera feature, flashing a smile and two fingers. He then left the phone behind.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance identifying the cameraman. He is black, wearing a white shirt, and appears to be wearing a long, black beaded necklace. Anyone who may be able to assist police is asked to contact Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. When calling Crime Line, callers do not have to give their names or appear in court. If the caller’s information leads to an arrest, the caller could qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
