Ajack Scott

Dr. Ajack Scott Sr., of 111 Hillside Ave., Suffolk, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, in Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late John and Alverta D. Scott.
He was a graduate of Norfolk State University and the University of Lynchburg. He received his Doctor of Divinity from Virginia University of Lynchburg. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Base after 20 years. He was a member of Healing Chapel Baptist Church and former member of St. Phillip Pentecostal Church. He was a Navy Veteran and Notary Public of Virginia. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal with OLC.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 36 years, Lisabeth Scott; one daughter, Lydia Hicks, of Norfolk, Va.; son, Wayne Scott, of Suffolk; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Tom Scott (Minnie), of Suffolk; a daughter-in-law, Davine Scott; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon Friday, July 17, 2009, at Tabernacle Christian Church. The Rev. Morris Allmond will be officiating, and the Rev. George Munden will be eulogizing. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will assemble at Crocker Funeral Home Friday at 11:15 p.m. for the procession to the church. The body will be placed in Healing Chapel Baptist Church, 2375 Godwin Blvd., Suffolk at 5 p.m. on Thursday for viewing, with a wake service from 7 to 8 p.m. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
