HAMPTON – After falling to Woody Howard in the waning circuits of last week’s Hampton Heat 200, points leader C.E. Falk gets a 100-lap rematch this Saturday as Langley Speedway continues its 2009 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series campaign with Med Express Urgent Care Night.

In addition to the 100-lapper for the headlining Crossroads Fuel Service Late Model Stock Cars, Saturday’s lineup includes: Old Point National Bank Grand Stocks (40 laps); B&C Seafood Modifieds (50 laps); Med Express Super Trucks (25 laps); and, Wolf Trucks (20 laps).

Front gates open at 1 p.m. Afternoon practice rounds start at 2 and wrap up at 4. Qualifying gets under way at 4:30, following the 4:15 drivers meeting. Pre-race activities begin at 6:55, while the evening’s first feature race, the Wolf Truck 20-lapper, goes green shortly after 7.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, 6-12. “Little Race Fans” (under 6) are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Military members in uniform are also admitted free. Military members in civvies (active-duty or retired, with ID) and senior citizens (60+, with ID) receive a $2 discount off the regular adult ticket price. “Family Packs,” which include two adult and two children’s tickets, are $25 – a savings of $5.

After dipping to sixth place last week, Falk has regained the fifth spot in the latest NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national Top 500 rankings. Connecticut Modified ace Keith Rocco maintained the lead, followed by Virginian Philip Morris.

In the Virginia state standings, Morris continues to hold a commanding lead, while Falk overtook Nick Smith to move back into second place. Danny Edwards Jr. and Howard check in at 15th and 20th, respectively.

The finish of that race, which featured a four-wide scramble off the final corner, will be a hard one to top, but the Pro Cuppers will give it their best shot when the series makes a return visit to Langley on Saturday, Aug. 22.

While the 27-car starting field for the Hampton Heat 200 represented a season-high for the Late Model division, Howard, the winner last Saturday, still couldn’t resist taking a good-natured poke at drivers who chose to bypass the event.

“I’m surprised we didn’t have any more cars. I think it’s really just that the track is so tough that some of these people are a little bit scared, I think, to come out here,” said Howard.
