Erlene Walters Jones Riley 94, passed away peacefully July 14, 2009 in Scottdale, Ga. Her homegoing service was held July 21, 2009 at Big Miller Grove Baptist Church, Lithonia, Ga., where she was a very active member and mother of the church while in good health.
She was the daughter of David and Florence Walters; sister of David, Thornton (Sandy Red) and Vernon; widow of Lincoln Jones and Seals Riley; aunt of Sarah Walters Branch, all of whom predeceased her in death.
Left to cherish her precious memories are numerous in-laws, including a special son and caretaker, Bobby Lee Riley; two special nieces, Verjena and Carolyn, both of Maryland; a special nephew, Dave, of Hampton, Va.; many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Erlene and former husband Lincoln raised several foster children together. Upon her retirement from the telephone company in New York City, they relocated to Decatur, Ga., where they resided until his death. In 1999, Erlene and Seals were married and resided in Scottdale, Ga. until his death and then hers.
Erlene will truly be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
