Laura Robertson

Laura St. John Robertson, 48, of Suffolk, Va., passed away on Aug. 3, 2009. She was born in Montgomery, Ala., and was predeceased by her mother Peggy Keith Hare. A devoted wife and mother, Laura was a school teacher in the Suffolk City Public School system and a member of the Believer’s Church. Laura was a very active volunteer with Kandy Stripers Animal Assisted Therapy at Sentara Obici Hospital and Oasis, working in the community to feed the homeless.
Laura is survived by her husband of 31 years, Roger Dean Robertson, of Suffolk; a son, Brandon Dean Robertson, of Suffolk; father, Robert Holmes St. John and wife, Wilma, of Leland, N.C.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and Tom Claypool, of Norfolk, Linda and David Hitt, of Virginia Beach, and Elizabeth St. John, of Norfolk; and two nephews, Christopher Hitt and Josh Claypool.
Laura’s special bond with all those she loved will not be broken by her passing.
A celebration of Laura’s life will be held on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Believer’s Church, 4500 Peek Trail, Chesapeake, with the Rev. Jamey Stuart officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family following the service back at the church for further time of remembrance.
