Margaret Morings

SUFFOLK — Margaret Louise Morings, of 7152 Harvest Drive, Suffolk, passed away Aug. 4, 2009 at Norfolk General Hospital. A native of Nansemond County (Suffolk), she was daughter of the late Linous and Alice Cross Gatling and the widow of Lindsey Morings. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Doretha Morings, and granddaughter, Megan Morings.
Mrs. Gatling attended Nansemond County Training School and was retired from Continental Telephone Company (now Verizon). She was a member of Stoney Branch Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a missionary.
She leaves to mourn her loss and cherish her memory: one daughter, Sylvia Morings, of Suffolk; three sons, Lindsey Morings (Seminar), of Suffolk, Melvin Morings (Christine) and Ray Morings (Louise), of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Robert, Wanda, Lindsey, Shannon, Jamie, Ikisha and Sherod; five great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Deonte, Daylah, Amarion and Zyrin; six sisters, Ruth Edwards, Alice Morings, Gladys Benton and Mary Johnson (John), of Suffolk, Irene Gatling, of Jersey City, N.J., and Luella Fitzhugh (John), of Irvington, N.J.; one brother, Grafton Gatling, of Jersey City, N.J.; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009 at Stoney Branch Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. J.J. Ferguson. The Rev. Bryan Johnson is Pastor. Interment will be in the Gatling Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Crocker Funeral Home.
