A young girl is being flown to the hospital following a hit-and-run incident.

The accident occurred about 8:20 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Kilby Avenue, said city spokeswoman Debbie George. The car fled the scene, but was located at a convenience store on Carolina Road. The female who was driving the car is in custody, George said.

The child, believed to be about 3 years old, is being taken by Nightingale air ambulance to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Her condition is unknown at this point.
