First Baptist’s bright spot came early in the second half with a pair of goals within five minutes of each other.

The first Crusader goal started at the opposite end of the field with a long clearance by goalie Jason Whitlow. Paryn Grodi won the ball in midfield and passed into space for Pete Twisdale. Twisdale got passed the last BEACH defender, dribbled past the goalie and scored.

With a bit of aggression after the goal, the Crusaders kept pressing up the field. A corner kick by Twisdale bounced to the far post where Russell Ballance had a shot on goal saved but Luke Ognibene kicked the rebound into the open net, making it 7-2 BEACH.

The Crusaders (0-1) travel down to Ahoskie Christian for their next match, on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
