In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve revamped the look of our feature pages in the B section of the Suffolk News-Herald.

The Business, Food, Fun & Leisure, Military, Faith & Family and Home & Garden pages have received new looks and new content. We also shifted around the days on which most of them run.

Another change, which you may not have noticed, is that our news staff now has assigned feature pages. Before the switch, we simply did whichever page we had an idea for or that fit into our schedule. Now, however, each of us will do the same pages every week.

That means that I am now both your Faith & Family editor and your Fun & Leisure editor, and I am looking for ideas from you to ensure that I deliver the content you want.

I would love to hear from each and every one of you about the Faith & Family page. Is there a new program or outreach your church is doing? What about a family-oriented activity you want to see us feature? Is there a unique event your church is having? What about a faith-based ministry in town doing good things?

On last week’s Faith & Family page, for example, we featured a new church meeting on West Washington Street, a religious organization seeking volunteers for a play in October, a vacation Bible school donation made to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and a new ministry of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In addition, we had a question-and-answer session with the anniversary chair for Pleasant Union Baptist Church. The church is celebrating its anniversary and the pastor’s and co-pastor’s anniversary next month.

All that content made for a total of three churches and two faith-based ministries in the city featured on the same page. That’s a LOT of content.

On our last Fun & Leisure page, we featured five leisure activities in the city on the same page — including the TGIF concert, the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge anniversary activities, and the many possibilities at the East Suffolk Recreation center. Again, a lot of information for Suffolk residents.

Here’s where you come in — I need you to tell me what you want to see on these pages. Send in your photos of recent events or your ideas for upcoming events. I’m also grateful for ideas of people in the community who would make a good question-and-answer feature.
