Police have determined the man who was thrown from his motorcycle in an early-morning wreck Monday was struck by another car before his death.
Aaron Skilbred, 39, was traveling east in the 2300 block of Holland Road when he ran off the road to the left and struck a culvert. He was ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest in the westbound lanes, where he was struck by a vehicle operated by Ramie Chadbourne, of East Haven Drive in Suffolk. Chadbourne stopped at the scene.
“They did determine that the westbound vehicle did strike Mr. Skilbred based on the physical evidence,” city spokeswoman Debbie George said.
Skilbred, of the 100 block of Gene Avenue, was transported from the scene, but died prior to arrival at Sentara Obici Hospital.
The accident still is under investigation, George said. Police are seeking people who witnessed the accident to provide more information. If you saw the accident, call Suffolk Police at 923-2350. Officer K.L. Long is the lead investigator.
