The Nottoway Indian Tribe of Virginia will hold its powwow Sept. 19-20 at Surry County Parks and Recreation Center in Surry, 205 Enos Farm Drive.

Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for two days of cultural activities such as native dancing, drumming, crafts, demonstrations and food will be included in the activity.

Demonstrations will include the Intertribal Women’s Circle demonstrating crafts including beading, pottery and regalia-making. Stan Piersa will demonstrate arrow-making; O.T. Matthews will demonstrate deer hide processing; and Pam Fields will demonstrate basket-making and face-painting for children.

Admission to the powwow is $5 for ages 12 to adult; $4 for seniors over age 65; $2 for ages 7-11; and free for ages 6 and under.

The gates open at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Grand entries are at noon on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
