Girl Scouts seek support for special coin

Girl Scouts need your support to secure an official U.S. Mint-issued commemorative coin to celebrate their 100th anniversary in 2012. Thanks to support already obtained from Girl Scout members and the community, the bill has 209 cosponsors in the House, but it still needs to obtain 67 cosponsors in the Senate to be successful.

You can help the Girl Scouts simply by contacting your senator and asking for his support on “The Girl Scouts USA Centennial Commemorative Coin Act.” Visit www.GirlScouts4girls.org to contact them directly and for more information on this important bill. It only takes a few seconds to make a difference, and you don’t have to be a Girl Scout to help out.

In 2012, the Girl Scouts will celebrate 100 years of service and dedication to the country. The coin is a way to recognize the achievements of the Girl Scouts of the USA and the 50 million women across the nation whose lives have been influenced through Girl Scouting.

In Girl Scouts, girls develop leadership skills, build confidence and improve their communities through service projects. Ten dollars from the sale of each coin will support the development and delivery of Girl Scout programs all across the nation.
