Suffolk’s going all in this weekend.

Sertoma in Suffolk is hosting an Evening In Vegas party Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m. at The First Lady, located on W. Washington Street in downtown Suffolk.

“It’s a real fun event,” said Cindy Arnold, one of the event’s organizers. “Everyone really enjoys it.”

Throughout the night, gamblers can take their turn at various game tables including Texas Hold ‘Em, Blackjack, High-Low and dice in order to try and accrue as many poker chips as possible.

This is the third year for the event, and Arnold said it has become a tradition for some local “gamblers.”

“Everybody that has been has said it’s a lot of fun,” Arnold said. “We always have small venues so it’s kind of intimate for people to play in, and of course we always have return players each year to help out.”

Tickets to the event are $30 a piece, or $25 a piece for a group of ten or more. Tickets include entry to the games as well as food and entertainment.

This year, local DJ Jeremy Branch will be performing for the crowds. Arnold said she expects about 150 people will be in attendance Saturday.

The winner with the most chips at the end of the night will walk away with $250, second place will win $150 and third place will get $50.

The real winner of the night, however, will be the Sertoma organization, which will keep all funds raised from the night in the Suffolk community.

Sertoma, which stands for SERvice TO MAnkind, is a non-profit civic organization made up of members of local communities across North America. According to the Sertoma Webs site, Sertoma clubs raise more than $20 million for local community service projects each year.

The Bennett’s Creek Sertoma Club is responsible for the annual Chili Fest, which brought in more than 1,000 people to Bennett’s Creek Park this year.
