Service Academy requests due Oct. 30

Congressman J. Randy Forbes (R-4th) has announced that applications for consideration for nomination to the U.S. Service Academies must be submitted by Oct. 30.

In order to be considered for nomination, students must be American citizens and legal citizens of Virginia’s Fourth District; must not be married or pregnant; and must not have a legal obligation to support children or other dependants.

All applicants must write a personal letter to Forbes that includes high school credentials and accomplishments.

Additionally, candidates must submit the following: a completed applications, three letters of recommendation, including one from a high school administrator or teacher; all school transcripts; all College Board scores; a one-page typed essay on why the candidate wants to attend a U.S. Service Academy; and a résumé of social or athletic activities and notable accomplishments.
