A: I used to play in the backyard with my uncles. I didn’t get into organized horseshoes until about six years ago.

Q: Besides horseshoes, what is your favorite leisure activity?

A: Horseshoes is my favorite, by all means. I like being outside. I used to fish, but don’t much anymore. Bowling is a lot of fun, but I prefer being outside. But, bowling you can do all year round.

Q: Are there similarities between horseshoe pitching and bowling?

A: Yes, there are a lot of similarities. We use the same motions the bowler does, and we have a foul line.

Q: Everybody throws horseshoes differently. How do you throw yours?

A: I use a three-quarters turn. Some people hold it on the opposite side, and some people do one flip, two flips or multiple flips.
