It’s a big year for First Baptist Christian School: a new headmaster, first-ever graduating class and getting closer to having its own school location.

And the firsts don’t stop there.

This year, the school is hosting its first-ever Christmas Bazaar on Nov. 14 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church’s Family Life Center.

“We’re really excited,” said Dawn Crocker, president of the Parent Teacher Fellowship for First Baptist. “We really wanted to reach out to the community and let them know this is a school that’s here for anyone. You don’t have to a church member of First Baptist to go to school here.”

Crocker said members of the school community are hoping this will be not only a positive introduction to members of the city, but a budding partnership.

“It’s amazing how many people who live around here don’t realize we’re here,” she said. “We want people to work with us.”

Specifically, event organizers are hoping to fill all 30 spaces allotted for various vendors and crafters during the bazaar.

“It’s free and open to the public,” Crocker said. “And it’s a great for people who are interested to showcase their product. People can come in and do their Christmas shopping early and just have a fun event to look forward to.”

Additionally, Crocker said the event is a win/win because vendors can make their money through sales and the money raised from leasing the spaces will go directly to the school.

Spaces are $35 a piece. Registration for the spaces ends Oct.31.

Throughout the bazaar, there will be concessions, homemade apple cider and chili as well as informational booths dedicated to educational opportunities at First Baptist.

“I think everyone (at the school) seems to have a real excitement about it,” Crocker said. “We’re making it a first annual event because we hope it will be such a success that we will continue to do this yearly.”

First Baptist Church is located at 237 N. Main Street. For more information or to register for a space, call Dawn Crocker at 618-6905.
