Suffolk Publications, publishers of the Suffolk News-Herald, unveiled its newest product Thursday night to a gathering at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts.

With more than 100 in attendance, Editor Tim Reeves announced the start of Suffolk Living, a quarterly lifestyle and city magazine focused on Suffolk.

“I am overwhelmed at the response we had tonight,” Reeves said after the event. “I could not have been more pleased with the number of people we had here and the warm reception the magazine received.”

The first edition of the magazine will be published Dec. 1, with the following editions publishing March 1, June 1 and Sept. 1.

“Our goal is to truly showcase the people, places and things that make Suffolk such a wonderful place to live,” Reeves said during his presentation. “This is your magazine. This is Suffolk’s magazine.”

The production of the magazine will be done within the Suffolk News-Herald building on South Saratoga Street in downtown Suffolk, with newspaper staff producing the content.

“I’m looking forward to the first edition,” Suffolk Sheriff Raleigh Isaacs said. “It’s going to be a nice addition to the city.”

The magazine, which will be free, will be distributed at locations throughout Suffolk and in Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Windsor and Carrollton.

“We currently have a distribution list of over 200 locations but are always looking for more,” Reeves said. “Our hope is to make sure whoever wants to get a copy of this magazine can find one near their home or work.”

The magazine will have a partner Web site, www.suffolklivingmag.com, which is set to launch Dec. 1. The site will feature some of the photos from the edition, stories and an online version of the complete magazine.

“This has been a blast so far, kicking off this magazine,” Reeves said. “And, it’s been made easier thanks to the partners we’ve teamed up with.”
