I’d like to comment on the poor service afforded to the citizens of Suffolk by the local DMV office.

On Oct. 21, I arrived at the office at 4:57 p.m. to pick up a pamphlet. Approaching the door, I was denied entry by the guard, who said it was 5 p.m., the advertised closing time.

It was not closing time yet, and regardless of how they may set their clocks inside the building, it doesn’t change the fact that the citizens are entitled to have the office open during its advertised time.

It is a state office and is there to conduct business for the citizens of the state. Each of the employees is paid to support the citizens of Suffolk until 5 p.m., not until almost 5 p.m.

Because of their poor service, I now have to leave work a little early again to try to get this pamphlet.

The irony in this? As I drove home, the 5 o’clock news started on the radio.
