James Madison’s field hockey team will go for its fourth straight Colonial Athletic Association Tournament championship on Saturday and Sunday at Drexel University in Philadelphia. JMU (12-7, 6-2) is the No. 3 seed and will face No. 2 Delaware on Saturday. No. 1 Drexel and No. 4 Hofstra complete the field.

Senior Kelsey Cutchins (Lakeland), JMU’s two-time All-American goalkeeper, was named to the CAA’s Silver Anniversary Team as one of the 25 best field hockey players in the conference’s 25-year history earlier this season. Kelsey Cutchins started all 19 matches for JMU in the regular season and has a 79.6 percent save percentage.

Sophomore Lindsay Cutchins (Lakeland), Kelsey’s younger sister, has three goals, six assists and three defensive saves for the Dukes.

Jackson State freshman Ben Hunter (Lakeland) helped JSU win the Coca-Cola Minority Invitational at Brownsville Golf Course in Atlanta on Sunday. Hunter, a freshman, shot 78 as JSU had six golfers shoot under 80.

Rain cut the event from three rounds to one. JSU defeated a field of 17 schools and beat second-place Tennessee St. by four strokes.

Sophomore Katelyn Yandle (Nansemond River) has scored four goals in the last two matches for Christopher Newport’s field hockey team.

Last Thursday against No. 8-ranked (nationally, NCAA Div. III) Lynchburg, Yandle scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 12th minute to put CNU up 2-1. CNU went on to a 2-1 win. Yandle scored a hat trick on Saturday as CNU routed Limestone 9-1.

Yandle has six goals and a team-high six assists on the season. Freshman Breanne Lowe (Nansemond River) has played in 14 matches for CNU (14-3).

CNU’s won 12 of its last 13 matches to get to No. 12 in the nation in the National Field Hockey Coaches Poll for Div. III.

Randolph-Macon’s women’s volleyball team won three of four matches last weekend at a tournament at Emory University in Georgia. RMC beat LaGrange, Birmingham Southern and Berry and lost to the No. 4-ranked (NCAA Div. III) hosts.

Senior April Hines (Nansemond River) had 14 kills and 11 blocks in the tournament for the Yellow Jackets.

RMC (25-6, 9-1) enters the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament, at Hollins University on Friday and Saturday, as the regular season champions.
