Lakeland’s girls basketball team and five more teams from around the region will get ready for their seasons on Friday evening with a tripleheader of preseason benefit games, while also raising money for a necessary cause at the same time as Lakeland hosts “Lady Cavs Hoops for a Cure”.

Proceeds from the night will go to benefit the Susan G. Komen Cancer Fund. The organization raises money to fund breast cancer research and help educate women about the disease. The night’s proceeds will go to the Tidewater Affiliate of the Komen Cancer Fund, so the donations will be helping people nearby.

The Lady Cavaliers take on Ocean Lakes to start the tripleheader at 4 p.m. Surry vs. First Colonial follows and Warwick vs. Bayside is the third game, starting around 8 p.m.
