The Apprentice School’s men’s basketball team was in Florida while most of Virginia dealt with snow this past weekend. The Builders went 2-0 on the trip. Apprentice rallied to beat Johnson and Wales 64-59 on Friday in Miami; then beat Florida Memorial 79-62 Saturday in Miami.

The Builders trailed 32-24 at halftime on Friday, but came back to end a six-game losing streak. Senior forward Eric Joe (Nansemond River) had 11 points while freshman guard Chris Hearn (King’s Fork) had seven points.

On Saturday, the Builders didn’t need to fight back in the second half. Joe had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

For the season, Joe is averaging 14.9 points and 5.4 rebounds. Hearn is averaging 8.9 points per game for the Builders (6-6).

Cincinnati’s men’s basketball team defeated Lipscomb 80-52 on Saturday in Cincinnati to improve to 7-3 on the season.

Freshman guard Jaquan Parker (King’s Fork) played 16 minutes, totaling six points, three rebounds and two assists against Lipscomb. For the year, Parker’s averaging 10.0 minutes and 3.0 points per game.

Cincinnati hosted Winthrop on Tuesday night and the Bearcats open Big East Conference play on Dec. 30 by hosting Connecticut.
