Health bill threatens lives

To the Editor:

I was sorely disappointed and frustrated by the support given to the Health Care Reform Act by our two senators. This bill will fundamentally alter our health care system and — because of the cost, the cuts in Medicare and the cumbersome bureaucracy it creates — it threatens the very lives and livelihoods of millions of Americans.

If this legislation were so ideal, why was it crafted behind closed doors by a few radical leftist senators, voted on in the middle of a Sunday night, and rife with special deals to buy needed votes? Where is the transparency and the “change” we were promised?

It seems like business as usual of the worst kind.

It’s time for Americans who cherish freedom and hold to the values and principles that that this nation were built upon to take a stand, not only with our votes, but with our voices and pens.

Thomas Jefferson said, “A government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take all that you have.”

Finally, one other quote I found interesting: “The Keystone in the arch of socialism is the control of health care.” — Vladimir Lenin.

Let’s wake up and stand up!
